some random pictures Ive taken-the earth: a wonderful thing to ‘reflect.’

I think often about mirrors… Everything we do is a mirror image or act of something that makes up our environment. We go to work, hang out with friends, go to school; and when we come home we give a mirrored reflection to someone of the details of our day. We hang out with a certain crowd and we begin to dress and talk like them unknowingly. Studies show from our weight, our attitudes, to our ideologies; we become what we are surrounded by. I awoke this morning in need of a fresh perspective- half asleep I flipped open the newest National Geographic and a quote jumped out at me: ‘We Humans Are the Sum of Our Encounters With Others.’ It was exactly what I needed to hear. Our lives are the perfect sum (or perfect mirror) of all the fragments of everyone we have ever met, whether their presence had great affect or small. It even transcends to every environment and every experience we have ever had. Everything is a mirror: The planets that spin around the Sun do so in the same mathematical (mass to distance to velocity) ratios as electrons around a nucleus. The Earth (made of 72% water) gives your body (made of 72% water) life. You are the perfect Sum (mirrored reflection) of everything you have ever seen or done, and every day- every new experience makes you more powerful and more great. Sometimes we may think we are weak, but really we’re just failing to see how powerful we really are… I don’t know, it helped me get through my day…

Simply Connect.

An excerpt from the valiant and noble CMDmass Blog, with wings that block the light of day, the strength of the mystical water eagle and sharp carnivorous talons.

Successful business is all about creating efficient connections. The quicker you can connect the customer to your products, the more business you will have. Period. Case in point: Itunes vs. the Record Store. The connection between you and the ‘brick and mortar’ Record Store is quite removed… First you must get in a car, drive across town, maybe stop to get gas, maybe to get cash; by the time you have gotten to the store, there is a significant chance you got side-tracked by a phone call from your boss, a flat tire, a sigalert, a diversion to pick up a hitch-hiker, etc.. the point here is: the longer the connection takes, the more ‘Murphy’s Law’ tends to divert you from the point of your initial objective. Itunes on the other hand, created a connection that is extremely convenient (too convenient, I am now broke for it!) and was almost instantaneous in getting the music I sought into my possession. They removed the car, the gas, the cash, the potential diverting calls, and created a connection that got me what I desired in less than a minute. The outcome: We don’t see record stores anymore (except for a couple novelty ones- which I love to visit!) People’s (your valued customers) time is important. Connect them to what they need to know about you in the most efficient way possible. This short video highlights how easy that concept is with Web 2.0. Tony, at SellingHuntingtonBeach.com spends one minute of his precious day to shoot a video that invites people to get connected with the news and services he offers through facebook. This simple idea can be applied to any business, service, or person to streamline the connection process.

oh yes, and just to continue the ‘shameless plugs:’ become a fan of the CMDmass fan page and we too, will return the favor… lover.

scooter greatness!

While doing some routine zany stunts, Pete takes a spill

Scooter Greatness happened when we left our homes on three ’80 cc Scooters’ and rode surface streets (top speed 36 mph) all the way to Saddleback Mountain. This was the genius idea of Rory Kelly who was trying to launch a new extreme sport called Scooter Mountain Climbing. In all, we made the 5700 foot summit in about eight hours. Total damage was about 2000 dollars. Extreme Scootering is expensive.

Building Ultimate Transparency

This is an excerpt: Check out more at the CMDmass Blog which is becoming awesomely delicious and bodacious.

tagline: ‘the true story of how Dominos listened and made the perfect pizza’

We are wild about Ultimate Transparency at CMDmass. That means building a platform so vast and so transparent that consumers have instant access and ultimate transparency to your products and services. Dominos used the power of Social Media, Social Networking and all the tools of Web 2.0 to connect with its consumers, listen to them, and ultimately revitalize and save their declining brand. The Power of Web 2.0 holds ALL companies and people accountable for their actions if they want to remain in business. We think this video speaks in volumes of the power of marketing yourself (or your business) in a transparent way.

Be Extreme, Be Outrageous, Be Yourself!

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

All of your videos and online content should be approached like taking a ‘Jumping Picture.’ An online promotional video or Vlog is like showing a quick glimpse of what you (or your products) are all about. When I travel, I would never stand in front a monument and take a ‘say cheese’ picture; instead, I pose fiercely (like I am America’s Next Top Model) or I do a ‘jumping picture’ just to add that extra bit of life. In the ‘YouTube Generation,’ you have to be ALL OUT with your online content to KEEP your potential customers attention. You Have to Jump. At CMDmass, my video production team (and by team I mean ‘myself’ for the moment) goes above and beyond a cheesy promo video to enable our clients to produce something witty, electric and fun that’s meant to showcase who they really are. The thing that makes jumping difficult, is trying and failing multiple times (while people stare); but the end result is to catch a brief moment that is Amazing no matter where you are. You have to do the same thing to produce amazing online content. Put yourself out there, be extreme, be yourself, be transparent, be outrageous… and be prepared to have a brand people are ecstatic to talk about!

Some Shanking Anarchy Ensues

we came back the next day to snap a photo of the ‘brawl’ site.

i mentioned all my near death experiences have happened with pete eich.

One night in Nicaragua, I was with Pete Eich (a man I have grown quite comfortable facing death with) when we were approached on street by seven individuals. After proving to them, we had no money or anything of value to give them (we role pretty dirty- the way Thoreau taught us), they became hostile. What ensued was pure anarchy; seven against two, every man for themselves. Before I knew it, there were belts whipping, broken bottles jabbing, hair pulling, and basically all the elements that make for a good old fashioned brawl. Needless to say, I danced to the jabbing of one man’s broken coca-cola bottle; while Pete pulled some killer Ryu ‘Street Fighter’ moves he must have picked up in the early ’90s, off of the remaining six just to try to get out of there. We managed to break free from the pack and ran like crazy. Moral of the story: Pete is probably the best guy to have around in the event of a good and dirty street fight, and that you can never be too careful. In the end no one was hurt.
